COVID-19 update: Increased preventative safety measures

Dear HHH Members and Clients,

As of Monday, we are increasing our safety measures in order to minimise the risk of COVID-19 to our staff and to our clients.

We are taking these additional preventive measures to ensure that we can remain open and functioning without disruption to the service that our clients rely on and our doggies love.

The Hairy Hounds in Hackney Doggy Daycare and Training Centre in Homerton is an isolated, self-contained space that was designed specifically for the health, wellbeing, and happiness of the hounds in our care. We are fortunate that our site is large enough to keep everyone safe.

The controlled access to the site ensures that you can enter and exit the premises securely and with minimal contact and disruption. The dogs in our care enjoy an enriching space where they can run free in the fresh air, integrate and socialise with other dogs, and get the daily exercise and stimulation that they need.

We take the pandemic very seriously and have put strict additional measures in place to ensure that our staff, our dogs, and yourselves are protected and safe in every interaction with us.

UPDATED GUIDANCE & SAFETY POLICY

We ask that all members and clients who drop-off or pick-up their dogs please adopt the following measures when entering and leaving the HHH site:

(Please refer to the site diagram below for reference)

1. One IN/One OUT policy:

- in the corridor at all times (If there is already a client at the first gated area (where the leads hang), please wait at the main entrance gate in the street until the person before you has exited the site)

- Please safely distance yourself and wait in the first exercise yard if there is a queue.

- Please allocate extra time for collections and drop-offs, for yourselves and for others.

2. Please use the alcohol sanitiser provided when entering and leaving the site – located on the gate at the first gated area.

3. Please wear a mask. If you don’t have a mask on, please ensure that you do not come into close contact with staff or other clients.

4. Drops-offs:

- Please enter and release your dog into the first exercise yard, and we will collect them at our end.

- You may enter the first exercise yard to wait for the queue to clear or to talk with us, however, please keep a safe and respectful distance from the staff gate and other clients at all times.

Collecting your dog:

- We will release your dog from our staff gate into the first exercise yard for them to run out to you upon collection.

- Please keep a safe distance from the staff gate and other clients at all times

- Please put your dog onto the lead straight away to ensure that they do not run off to another waiting client in that area.

- We will clean your dog’s collar with an 80% alcohol spray before we hand your pooch back to you.

5. (Unrelated to COVID but equally important) Please shut the main entrance gate when you enter or leave the site.

6. If you are unwell or displaying any Covid-19 infection symptoms, please do not bring your dog to the site, please notify us of your condition for the safety of HHH staff and other clients. (Please call us by phone 07533 229854 and we can discuss how we might be able to safely support you in caring for your dog)

HHH Staff will adopt the following measures:

1. HHH Staff will sanitise their hands after all contact (handling leads, collars and harnesses, lunch boxes, etc.) and sanitise/wash our hands at regular intervals throughout the day.

2. We will wear a mask for existing collections and drop-offs to clients’ homes and if we are to come into closer contact with our clients.

3. No-one will enter or exit the main training area other than HHH Staff and the dogs in our care, however, as an exception to this, we have scheduled maintenance of the corridor for next week, and will allow the maintenance crew to enter and exit the site within our safety guidelines.

4. The gate to our premises, along with keys, and any other tactile surfaces are wiped or submerged in 80% alcohol-based disinfectant throughout the day.

5. Our staff are local and don’t need to use public transport to get to and from work.

Thank you for understanding and please do get in touch with us if you have any questions about these additional measures.

Stay safe,

Love from the HHH team & Gonzo
